We and our friends and kin enjoyed red and pink Kiger wines
at home and on the road. Fun photos below!

Cousins Mary and John Kiger (yes, yet another John Kiger) visited San Francisco and Sonoma Valley wine country from Charleston, SC. Before taking them to some of our favorite local wineries, we had lunch on our back patio with our favorite local rosé.

At their home in Healdsburg, Sandra and Lou Phillips hosted a wonderful dinner for us and Dad and Sheila; we took this photo with a self-timer after a few bottles of KFV. Sandra, in the middle with Mozart, worked with Dad at Boston University back in the 70s.

John's cousin Glenn, in Nashville, entrusted us with his son, Sam, for a week in late June. Also shown working hard on the Farming page, Sam lavished attention on all our animals who became thoroughly spoiled. Sam tasted the KFV Odyssey and proclaimed it "way better" than the Aussie shiraz his parents usually drink.

Our longtime ski buddy, London-based Jon Saxe, was in SF for a conference and spent a day with us. We made our way through a few west county tasting rooms and Jon made a new friend.

Jesper Jorgensen was a co-worker of John's at BEA. He and Chie, who's now his wife, were grape crushers at our first harvest party back in 2005. Currently "on sabbatical," they detoured from their Napa excursion to swap stories and taste the fruits of their long ago labor.

Dave Paquette is an old NC college buddy of John's. He and Jenny stayed overnight with us in June. In addition to drinking plenty of KFV, we did major damage to Dave's credit card at some of our local wineries, and Deb got behind the bar at Muscardini Cellars' tasting room to pour and extol the virtues of Michael M's sangiovese and barbera.

Another longtime ski buddy, Dean Pickering, spent an afternoon with us. We talked him and wife Donna, and daughters Katrina and Emily into staying for dinner. Katrina dug up some new potatoes and Emily harvested onions.

Rob Shomo, whom we know through old tech days and mutual friends, came to visit with his friends Greg and Alek Koss. It was mostly an easy day of sipping out on the back patio, but Alek got a chance to harvest some squash, cucumbers, and carrots, and marveled over being able to eat them as soon as they were pulled from the garden! Rob's moving to Asheville, NC, so we hope to return the visit at some future Christmastime.

Deb's dad with us out on the Sonoma State Beaches coastline. It was 100 degrees just two miles inland, but was a comfortable 65 degrees at the beach.
